651 days ago1752 views

The 74th annual Salt Lake County Fair will take place Aug. 11-14 at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Events Center in South Jordan at 2100 West 11400 South. The fair will host daily, family-friendly festivities and concerts for all ages.

"Each year since 1937, and this year is no exception, we will celebrate the people and talents in our community with the Salt Lake County Fair," said Sarah Dibble, Salt Lake County Fair program coordinator. "We have some amazing talent during the four-day celebration."

Family-friendly entertainment will take place throughout the fair. It will kick off with a concert from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Also playing will be opening acts Blake Wise and Jaron and the Long Road to Love.

Other spectator fair favorites are horse pulling races, two nights of demolition derby, racing pigs, petting zoo and "Scales and Tails." New this year will also host a Charo, a Mexican rodeo on the night of Aug. 12.

The organizing committee encourages everyone to participate in the 2010 Salt Lake County Fair in some way: with Mayor Peter Corroon's "Take Your Best Shot" photo contest, Dutch oven cooking contest, 4-H exhibits, a pie baking contest or the "2010 Talent Search" competition.
