PTA contest celebrates diversity

It’s official: the National PTA has announced the theme for the annual Reflection contest for the 2011-2012 school year, “Diversity means.”

This fall, students will be asked to submit their entries in music, photography, visual arts and literature, with four new categories accepted this year: dance, theatre, film and video and 3-D. Each submission, in any genre, will illustrate the theme.

For more than 30 years, the Reflections program has inspired students in preschool to grade 12, to explore their talents through the arts. In Utah, more than 60,000 students enter the Reflections program each year, demonstrating the importance of a quality arts education and the opportunity for students to express themselves and showcase their artistic talents.
