Junior Jazz program taking registration

The city of South Salt Lake has begun accepting registration for its popular Junior Jazz youth basketball program, which will run weekday evenings in December and January.

The recreation basketball program emphasizes teaching the basic fundamentals of the sport while promoting sportsmanship and having fun. Baskets are lowered for the PreK/K to 7 feet and to 8 feet for first-/second-grade leagues. Teams play six to eight games with regular practices, while players receive jerseys, awards, pictures and a ticket to a Utah Jazz game. All leagues are coed and available to youths 4-12 years old.

Registration is $25 for the first child, $20 for the second child and $15 for the third child. A $5 non-resident fee will be charged to those participants who do not live in South Salt Lake. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. The registration deadline is Nov. 4.

In addition to basketball, registration for the youth indoor soccer league will begin in January.
