Salt Lake Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive community hospital dedicated to high quality care in a friendly environment. Located at 1050 East South Temple, it’s been around since 1875 and was one of the first hospitals in the Salt Lake Valley. Tammy Clark is the director of business development and says many people don’t realize all that Salt Lake Regional can offer patients.

“People tend to overlook us because we’re not as big as some of the other hospitals in the area,” she says. “It is a more intimate facility and provides more one-on-one patient care because of its smaller campus.”

Salt Lake Regional was recently recognized by HealthGrades as the number one hospital in Utah for cardiac care. The cardiac team has recently expanded and welcomed several new board certified cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons.

“You might not think of Salt Lake Regional first for cardiac care, but maybe you should,” Tammy says.

Using the newest techniques and latest technology, Salt Lake Regional is able to offer an experience that can’t be found anywhere in the valley. It was the first hospital in Utah to take advantage of the Da Vinci Robotic system, used for thyroidectomy, hysterectomy and prostatectomy procedures. Using this technology, Salt Lake Regional’s patients enjoy faster recovery times, Tammy says.

The women’s center features newly renovated rooms that help new moms feel more comfortable after giving birth. The labor suites are big enough to accommodate as many people as the family wishes during the birth. New parents are also treated to a candlelight dinner before being discharged.

Renovations were completed recently in the emergency room, which now features the latest technology and brand new equipment. The ER staff does bedside registration to ensure patients are seen as quickly as possible. Patients can be seen for general emergencies and is open 24/7. Approximate ER wait times can be found on its website www.saltlakeregional.com.

“Our facility has undergone a lot of renovations over the years to make our facility comfortable for our patients,” Tammy says. “The future is bright for us – we have the latest technology, friendliest staff and the best doctors in the state.”

A new addition to the hospital is the Center for Precision Joint Replacement, under the direction of Dr. Aaron Hofmann, a highly experienced orthopedic surgeon who helped design the hip and knee joint used in replacement surgery. Dr. Hoffman is a professor at the University of Utah and Tammy says having him on Salt Lake Regional’s campus is a big advantage for patients.

Dr. Hofmann and his staff use the MAKO technology for joint replacement MAKO is a robotic arm system that results in a more precise knee or hip replacement with faster recovery times and more natural post surgery knee or hip movement compared to traditional joint replacement. Salt Lake Regional is the only hospital in the state that uses the innovative MAKO system.
